CUPE Cares September Charity -
Nanaimo Women's Centre
In partnership with the CUPE Vancouver Island District Council, the September CUPE Cares Charity is the Nanaimo Women's Centre.
The Nanaimo Women's Centre is operated by the Nanaimo Women's Resources Society and works to strengthen women and families in order to create a healthier community. The Centre is committed to respectful and inclusive participation regardless of age, ethnicity, socio-economic background, religion and sexual orientation. It works to promote equity and supports diversity; forge alliances that promote rights and equity; create public awareness and respond to social issues that impact on women and their families.
The Centre is dedicated to providing women and families with the tools, education and resource planning to expand their social, cultural and economic opportunities. And it maintains a safe and supportive environment for women and families.
Donations
The Local is collecting financial and in-kind donations including such things as personal hygiene products, diapers, school supplies, bus tickets, and housing supplies (towels, face cloths, pots/pans, bowls (any size), cutlery).
Donations may be dropped off at or sent to the Local's Nanaimo office or brought to the August Open House or the September GM.
